In the next 24 hours, snow is expected in Latvia at times, with heavy snowfall and blizzards in some places, while a snowstorm and thunderstorm are possible on the western coast of Kurzeme, forecasters predict.
On Monday evening, snow and strong winds are expected in the western and central regions. The most precipitation during the night will fall in Kurzeme, and on Tuesday, a snow cover of about 20 centimeters may form on the southern coast of Kurzeme.
Thunderstorms and snowstorms are expected on the western coast of Kurzeme, with gusts of northern and northwestern winds reaching 24-29 meters per second.
Snow clouds over the Gulf of Riga will bring heavy precipitation to the capital region, Zemgale, and the eastern regions of Kurzeme on Tuesday.
In other regions of Latvia, heavy snow is also expected on Tuesday, with the sun occasionally appearing. In the eastern regions, a weak to moderate northern and northwestern wind will blow, while the rest of the country will experience gusty winds.
The air temperature at night and in the morning will drop to -2...-8 degrees, and near the coast, it will be around zero in some places. The maximum daytime temperature will be 0...-5 degrees.
In Riga, variable cloudiness is expected, with occasional snow and blizzards, and heavy snowfall is possible. Gusts of northern wind in the northern part of the capital will reach 18 meters per second, with air temperatures at night and during the day ranging from 0...-3 degrees.
