Over six years—from mid-2019 to July 1 of this year—the popularity of the names Eve (Ieva) and Adam (Ādams) has increased in Latvia, according to data from the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA).
Adam and Eve are known in the Christian world as the first people created by God. In Latvia, their name day is celebrated on December 24.
According to information from the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA), in July 2019, there were 280 people in Latvia for whom Adam was the first or only name, and 12 people for whom it was the second or third name.
By July 1, 2025, there were 374 people registered in Latvia with the name Adam as the first or only name, and another 89 people with this name as the second or third.
As for the name Eve, on July 1, 2019, there were 9,860 women in Latvia for whom Eve was the first or only name, and 153 women for whom it was the second or third name.
By July 1, 2025, the number of women with the name Eve as the first or only name increased to 9,984, while the number of women for whom it is the second or third name reached 156.
