Harsh Statistics: Every Seventh Person in Latvia Has a Minimal Level of Education

Every seventh resident of Latvia aged 15 to 74 has only basic, primary, or even lower education, according to data from the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) for the third quarter of this year, reports LETA.

In total, the share of such residents is 14.3%. Of these, approximately 116,100 are men and 80,300 are women.

A general secondary education has been obtained by 22.9% of residents — approximately 162,800 men and 150,800 women. Vocational or secondary specialized education is held by 28.4% or approximately 388,800 residents.

Higher education in Latvia is held by 34.2% or approximately 468,500 people.

According to data from the Central Statistical Bureau, women in Latvia more often obtain higher education, while men more frequently pursue vocational education.
