She cried: at night in the rain due to new rules, the bus dropped her grandmother off not at her stop

This case was shared on social media by a woman who helped the pensioner in a difficult situation.

"I want to share an emotionally traumatic event that happened yesterday when I was on the last VTU bus from Riga to Valmiera (at 22:50).

An elderly lady, as I later learned, 80 years old, asked the driver to let her off at the Incīši stop, having bought a ticket to Straupe, because the Incīši stop is no longer a stop on the late route.

The driver, as he explained himself, acted according to the rules and passed by the Incīši stop. The woman could not reach her relatives, cried, and then we arrived at the Straupe stop, where at night, around midnight, in the rain, snow, and wind, the bus stopped, and she was able to get off.

How to assess this situation when the operating rules (without exceptions) allow leaving passengers helpless at night. It is unclear why residents of Straupe can return home late at night, while Incīši is skipped.

We solved the problem by having the woman stay overnight with me. She told me that she had returned from Kaunas yesterday, the bus was delayed, which is why she took this bus. But the question to VTU remains – what is more important: a paragraph, item, sub-item, or basic humanity of an employee who will not leave a person alone in winter, in the night darkness," writes Ilze.

Let us remind you that all similar situations are usually explained by transport companies by saying that each stop is a fuel expense. And if the driver makes an additional stop – it could mean a reprimand for him.
