Due to snow and ice, traffic on the main and regional roads of Latvia is hindered, reported the state road company "Latvijas valsts ceļi".
Snow-covered sections of roads are being cleared and treated with anti-icing materials. A total of 142 units of winter equipment are involved.
Difficult driving conditions are observed on the main state roads, including the Tallinn highway (A1), the Vidzeme highway (A2), the Valmiera highway (A3), the Riga bypass road from Salaspils to Baltezers (A4), the Riga bypass road from Salaspils to Babīte (A5), the Daugavpils highway (A6), the Bauska highway (A7) from Riga to Dzimtmisa, and the Jelgava highway (A8).
Difficult driving conditions are also present on the Liepāja highway (A9) from Riga to the Apšupes intersection and from Mazblīdene to Cīcere, on the Ventspils highway (A10) from Riga to Kudra and from Strazde to Ventspils, on the Rēzekne highway (A12), on the Grebnevo-Rēzekne-Daugavpils-Medumi road (A13), on the Daugavpils bypass road (A14), on the Rēzekne bypass road (A15), and on the regional road Tīnūži-Koknese (P80).
It is difficult to drive on regional roads throughout Latvia, except for the vicinity of Liepāja.
