The Christmas markets in Riga and Tallinn have already started their operation, but this year one of them surprises not with the atmosphere or assortment, but with the price level. Where can you spend an evening at the fair cheaper - in Riga or Tallinn? - asks Otkrito.lv.

On November 28, a fair opened in Riga's Dome Square, featuring over 80 stalls. Prices for traditional dishes remain moderate: grey peas with bacon - 6 euros, stewed cabbage - 5 euros, blood sausage - 8 euros, pork knuckle - 14 euros. Sausages range from 4 to 8 euros depending on the type, and soups start at 5 euros. There are also various dishes available for up to 10 euros, including paella, khinkali, chebureki, and pancakes. Oysters cost 5 euros for fresh ones and 6 euros for fried ones. Each.

Drinks also fall into the mid-price category: tea and coffee - 2–4 euros, hot chocolate - about 4 euros, hot non-alcoholic drinks - 4 euros, mulled wine - 5–6 euros. A deposit for a mug is additionally charged - 2 euros. Sweets and take-away products, including gingerbread, cost between 4 and 6 euros.

In Tallinn, prices for almost everything are higher, as noted by a correspondent from Postimees.ee.

On November 21, a fair opened in Tallinn's Town Hall Square. Mulled wine costs 7 euros, and its version with Vana Tallinn liqueur is 8 euros. Non-alcoholic mulled wine is 6 euros. Tea and coffee are offered for 4–5 euros, and gingerbread is priced at 7 euros.

Main dishes are also more expensive: ham or sausages with stewed cabbage and fried potatoes cost 15 euros. Salmon or lamb cutlets are 18 euros per serving. Meat delicacies cost 7–8 euros per 100 grams. Souvenirs are also pricier: wooden and ceramic items range from 15 to 55 euros.
