A Latvian volunteer joined the Ukrainian drone battalion Flash, as reported on social media by the Ukrainian government center responsible for attracting foreign volunteers to the defense forces, writes Otkrito.lv.
Although the woman born in Latvia is not a professional soldier, she is highly motivated and ready to apply her skills for the benefit of Ukraine.
In an introductory video, the woman, who introduced herself as Hayden, spoke about herself in English: "I am Hayden, I was born in Latvia, but I moved to the United Kingdom when I was 18. I lived there for 11 years and then came to Ukraine. It’s clear that I have been following the war, watching a lot. When I found the [recruitment] website, I studied it, saw videos on Instagram and TikTok, applied online, went through an interview, and was asked to turn on the camera. Of course, they needed to see my face. I was asked about my motivation."
In the video interview, the volunteer mentions that she worked in government administration, but the Ukrainian army appreciated her "intellectual talents," including her good knowledge of languages. In the comments to the video, the brave woman has already been called a "real Lara Croft." "Maybe I am not a professional soldier, but I am incredibly smart, and the army can use my brain in any area," she concludes with a smile.
