From Friday, November 28, it is prohibited to be on the ice of all Riga's bodies of water and the waters of the sea coast, the LETA agency was informed by the external communication department of the Riga City Council.
Considering the current weather conditions and meteorological forecasts, it can be assumed that a thin layer of ice may form on the bodies of water, and being on it may be dangerous.
The period of increased danger on the ice of Riga's bodies of water is established by the executive director of the city of Riga. The implementation of this order is monitored by the Riga municipal police.
Responsibility for being on the ice is established by the law on administrative penalties for violations in the field of governance, public order, and the use of the state language. A warning or a fine of up to 100 euros is applied for violating the law.
