Where Did the Data Go?!" Two Residents of Liepaja Have Incomplete Information on the State Portal

Liepaja resident Evija Maria is currently studying in Riga. Alongside her studies, she has been practicing martial arts—taekwondo—for several years. However, while viewing her profile on the state portal Latvija.lv, she discovered a problem, reports the program Bez Tabu (TV3).

In the section about extracurricular education, it is stated that Evija Maria has been practicing taekwondo only since 2023, although in reality, her experience exceeds ten years.

Evija Maria's training partner, Nikita, is in a similar situation; he is currently doing an internship in Portugal, so the details were provided by his mother, who lives in Liepaja.

Alla's son also submitted all the necessary supporting documents regarding his attendance at the taekwondo club, but the information in the digital system still appears incorrect.

"They ask us to send proof that we really practiced [taekwondo], yes. We send diplomas, certificates, references that we indeed practiced; we don’t need someone else’s glory, we stand for our own, so everything is truthful. And then they write back that they are incompetent in this matter. Then why ask for all these documents at all?" Alla is indignant.

The portal Latvija.lv is administered by the State Agency for Digital Development. Upon receiving a request from Bez Tabu, the agency stated that it would not provide in-person comments on the matter but offered a written explanation:

"The portal Latvija.lv functions as a single access point to the services of state and municipal institutions, providing centralized access to various electronic services. Under one 'roof,' electronic services from different institutions are combined. The institution to which a specific service belongs is responsible for its content. In this situation, it is necessary to contact the Central Administration of Liepaja."

The head of the Liepaja Center for Children and Youth, Ineta Shmedina, explained that the taekwondo club where Evija Maria and Nikita train was connected to the center's system only in 2023.
