The former mayor of the resort city has headed the strategic planning committee.
As previously reported, today at the meeting of the Jūrmala city council, Jānis Lediņš was elected as the mayor of the city, who previously held the position of vice-mayor and has already gained access to state secrets. His deputy is Roman Mežeckis. As for the former mayor Gatis Trukšnis, today he was elected as the chairman of the new committee of the Jūrmala city council - on strategic planning.
Ligita Mazinī was elected as the deputy chair of the committee. The committee will also include deputies Boris Donikov, Rita Sproge, and Andris Čuda.
The chairman of the committee, Gatis Trukšnis, emphasizes: "In terms of the city's development, there must be a unified vision so that we can provide our residents with a clear understanding of how the city is developing and how this will affect each resident. This concerns my plan for the next four years and the promises made to the residents of Jūrmala, the fulfillment of which I will closely monitor, as well as the development of a new long-term strategy for the city, which we will soon begin to work on. The residents of Jūrmala confidently expressed their support for the policy carried out by me and my team in the municipal elections, and I will continue to work on fulfilling the promises made to the residents of Jūrmala."
The Strategic Planning Committee will address issues related to the overall development of the municipality, as well as the development of sectors within the municipality's competence, ensuring coordinated planning processes and balancing the interests of various sectors. The Strategic Planning Committee will also review decisions of the Jūrmala city council regarding sector development issues, ensuring the long-term implementation of various projects and providing conclusions on them. In addition, the committee will be responsible for reviewing significant organizational issues by the municipality's administration, presenting conclusions on draft decisions of the Jūrmala city council concerning the aforementioned internal processes of the municipality's administration.
