You can now observe giraffes Chuck and Vakilia from the first floor at the Riga Zoo, reports tv3.

“Previously, the giraffes Chuck and Vakilia in the 'Giraffe House' could only be seen from the balcony on the second floor, but now the first floor is also open to visitors. From this viewpoint, one can truly appreciate how slender and impressive these animals are,” reports the Riga Zoo.

The 'Giraffe House' is always warm and cozy – it’s the perfect place to shelter from the rain or wind, take a break, and leisurely spend time in the company of the giraffes at the Riga Zoo.

Chuck and Vakilia are a couple, although they do not have any offspring yet.

Giraffes are herbivorous and spend up to 20 hours a day feeding, using their 45-centimeter-long tongues to strip leaves from branches.

Giraffe Vakilia arrived in Riga on July 22, 2021, from the zoo in Schmiding (Austria), while Chuck came from Ree Park in Denmark on June 7, 2023.
