Future Police Officers of Latvia Took an Oath at the Brothers' Cemetery

On Saturday at the Brothers' Cemetery in Riga, 194 cadets of the College of the State Police, studying under the short-cycle professional higher education program "Police Work," took their oath, representatives of the State Police reported to the LETA agency.

The new academic year at the College began with a record number of new cadets, and on Saturday, future police officers took an oath, confirming their readiness to strengthen the internal security of the country and serve the society of Latvia.

Before the ceremony, the cadets and staff of the College of the State Police marched in a solemn procession from the college grounds to the Brothers' Cemetery in Riga.

The event was opened by the senior chaplain of the National Guard, Major Raimonds Krasinskis, who emphasized that the oath symbolizes loyalty to the state, society, and the values of service.

Addressing the cadets, the Chief of the State Police, General Armand Ruks, noted their courage and willingness to serve in the police, urging them not to forget the mission of the police — to serve society.

Colonel Dmitrijs Khomenko, the director of the College of the State Police, also delivered a speech to the cadets, addressing the families who came to support and congratulate their loved ones. He emphasized that the oath is a confirmation of courage and determination, but in service, the support of family and loved ones is also important for police officers.

"The work of a police officer requires a lot and is often associated with challenges, so I urge parents and families to be there for our cadets — with faith, support, and pride in their choice to serve in the State Police," said Khomenko.

The musical arrangement for the event was provided by the National Guard Orchestra.
