This autumn, five capybara babies were born at the Riga Zoo, reported the zoo's marketing project manager Roberta Treija to the LETA agency.

The first baby was born at the end of September, and four more were born in mid-October.

Thus, this autumn, instead of three capybaras, there are now eight in the zoo.

All five babies are healthy, active, and developing well. Both female capybaras are caring for them, said Treija.

Although visitors will only be able to see the babies in the spring, it will soon be possible to follow their growth, as a live stream will be provided.

Initially, it will be available to the head of the capybara and other ungulates department, Julia Lauberte. The department head, along with her staff, will assess the daily lives of the animals and select recordings for publication, but over time, the stream will be available both in the new modern enclosure and around the clock.
