In the first eight months of this year, municipalities paid residents of Latvia 30.6 million euros in housing benefits, according to data from the Central Statistical Bureau.
The most benefits were paid in March - 4.86 million euros.
On average, 33,432 people received housing benefits monthly. The highest number of beneficiaries was in March - 36,763 people.
Housing benefits are one of the two main types of social assistance paid from the budgets of municipalities.
