Comic Romanov stated that his daughter was initially denied Portuguese citizenship.

Famous stand-up comedian Dmitry Romanov, who moved to Europe, revealed the difficulties he faced in obtaining Portuguese citizenship for his daughter. He shared this in his Telegram channel.

According to the humorist, a child born in Portugal is entitled to citizenship if one of the parents has legal residency status or if the parent has actually lived in the country for more than one year. "I had Ukrainian temporary protection, which is indeed a legal status. But it is at this point that many are turned away," he wrote.

As Romanov clarified, at the first registry office they approached, they were denied citizenship for their child. They then went to another city, where their child was granted citizenship. At the same time, as the humorist explained, during the second attempt to obtain citizenship status for their daughter, they provided the same documents as the first time.

"By the way, the law has changed now, making it more difficult. But in our case, it worked," the comic added.
