On Monday, a zone of precipitation will cross Latvia from the southeast, bringing rain to many places, forecasters predict.
In some areas, the rain will be heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms. In certain regions — mainly in Latgale — during thunderstorms, there may be storm winds, tornadoes, and large hail.
The Latvian Centre for Environment, Geology and Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms in the eastern and central parts of the country.
The first day of the week is expected to be mostly cloudy, with clearer weather in Kurzeme. Starting from the southeast of the country, rain will occur in many places. A moderate north and northeast wind will blow. The air temperature will rise to +12…+19 degrees.
In Riga, cloud cover will increase, and rain is expected by evening. With a light to moderate north and northeast wind, the air will warm up to +16 degrees, while near the sea, cooler weather will remain — a few degrees lower.
A cyclone is approaching from the southeast. The atmospheric pressure at sea level will range from 1014 hPa in southern Latgale to 1020 hPa in northern Kurzeme.
In some areas of the western and central parts of the country — mainly in Zemgale and the vicinity of Riga — there remains a high fire danger in forests, warns the Latvian Centre for Environment, Geology and Meteorology.
