Daily consumption of almonds may reduce the severity of acne and improve skin condition. This conclusion was reached by researchers, with the results published in the journal Nutrients.

The study involved 74 individuals with mild to moderate acne. For 20 weeks, one group consumed 60 grams of almonds daily, while the other received calorie-matched snacks without nuts. The scientists assessed the number of breakouts, skin condition, and microbiome composition.

It turned out that participants consuming almonds experienced a 22.2 percent reduction in total breakouts compared to 9.8 percent in the control group. Inflammatory lesions decreased, while the comparison group saw an increase. Participants also showed improved skin hydration and greater diversity in skin microbiota—a factor associated with more resilient skin conditions.

The authors attribute the effect to the composition of almonds: they are rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, healthy fats, and trace elements that may reduce inflammation and influence metabolism related to acne development. Additionally, participants reported improved quality of life and reduced anxiety.
