Oncologist: shoulder pain may be a symptom of liver cancer.

Episodes of intermittent pain in the right shoulder may be early symptoms of liver cancer. This was reported by Czech oncologist Jiri Kubesh from the Proton Therapy Center in Prague, as stated by The Daily Mirror.

According to him, liver cancer can sometimes cause so-called referred or phantom pain. In this case, discomfort is felt in the shoulder rather than in the abdominal cavity. "This happens because the liver is located close to the nerves that connect to the shoulder, so irritation can be felt in other parts of the body," the doctor explained.

Other symptoms of this type of cancer include jaundice, loss of appetite, uncontrolled weight loss, pain in the upper abdomen, digestive disorders, weakness, and general malaise. The oncologist noted that symptoms of the disease in the early stages remain unnoticed, which is why patients often attribute them to something harmless.

It is noted that the presence of these signs does not necessarily indicate the presence of a malignant tumor, but if malaise persists, it is important to consult a doctor.

Previously, oncologist Sergey Ivanov from the Scandinavian Health Center warned that the main provocateur of cancer development is not heredity, but lifestyle. In particular, smoking and alcohol significantly increase the risk of developing oncology, he stated.
