The 33-year-old artist revisited the topic of his six-year romance and admitted that he perceives his past feelings differently today.
In a new episode of the podcast Call Her Daddy, Zayn Malik stated that he is currently unsure whether to call his feelings for Gigi Hadid true love. According to the singer, as one ages, the understanding of love changes, and what once seemed like a deep feeling he now perceives more as strong attraction or emotional attachment.
A New Perspective on Relationships
At the same time, the artist emphasized that he holds his former partner in respect and warmth—primarily because of their shared daughter Khai, who is now five years old.
Malik admitted that the format of a public couple was uncomfortable for him. He does not plan to build relationships in front of an audience again and believes that personal life should remain within the couple.
Focus on Fatherhood and Career
The singer also noted that he does not perceive loneliness as a problem. On the contrary, he describes this period as liberating and suitable for his character. Malik is currently focused on raising his daughter and preparing a new album.
The couple started dating in 2015, broke up and got back together several times, and finally separated in 2021—one year after the birth of their child. The breakup was accompanied by a conflict with the model's mother, Yolanda Hadid, and subsequent legal consequences.
Gigi Hadid herself previously stated that she and her former partner plan their custody schedule in advance and try to maintain a calm relationship for the sake of their daughter. The model is currently dating Bradley Cooper, but rumors of a possible engagement have not been officially confirmed.
