Psychologist: sudden loss of energy after activity may indicate ADHD.
Some people may be unaware that they have a common mental disorder — Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), said British psychologist Bidjal Chheda. She discussed the non-obvious symptom of this condition with Mirror.
According to Chheda, a sudden loss of energy after periods of heightened focus or activity, which are more well-known symptoms of this disorder, may indicate ADHD. "At one moment, a person may feel very energetic and fully engaged, but the next moment they may feel completely drained," the doctor clarified.
The psychologist noted that this symptom can also be mistakenly interpreted as a lack of discipline, causing some people with ADHD to exhaust themselves without realizing that they are initially overexerting themselves and then suddenly collapsing into exhaustion. Furthermore, Chheda continued, individuals with ADHD often struggle with time management, as they overestimate or underestimate the duration and deadlines of tasks. They also exhibit heightened emotional sensitivity, difficulties in making choices between two options, anxiety, problems with processing information, and a tendency towards excessive or insufficient explanations, the doctor concluded.
