Dr. Foldvary-Schaefer: alcohol leads to fragmented sleep.
Dr. Nancy Foldvary-Schaefer from the Cleveland Clinic revealed the impact of even a small amount of alcohol on sleep quality. Her words were reported by Infobae.
"Alcohol leads to fragmented sleep, meaning the brain briefly wakes up, causing the sleep cycle to be interrupted over and over again," the doctor explained. As a result, a person will not be able to fully recover overnight, she emphasized.
The specialist clarified that alcohol negatively affects sleep, especially in the second half of the night. According to her, it does not matter how much a person drank in the evening. The listed effects will manifest at any dose of alcoholic beverages, Foldvary-Schaefer concluded.
