Le Figaro asked employees of Parisian eateries to share the quirks of tourists, specifically the most unusual drinks ordered by foreigners.
A bartender named Lucien was shocked when a group of Americans once ordered a bottle of rosé wine and asked for grenadine syrup to go with it. It turned out that this combination had become trendy in New York.
Spanish tourists asked him for "kalimotxo": a mix of red wine and cola that is popular in Spain.
Against this backdrop, the request from other American tourists to serve ice with red wine surprised Lucien, but it no longer shocked him.
Another Parisian mixologist (as bartenders are now stylishly called) mentioned that strange requests mostly come from Americans: they ask to add ice cubes to already cold beer; mix cognac with tonic; champagne with vodka, or white wine with champagne.
But this is not the strangest thing!
In San Francisco, for example, you will be offered a cocktail called "Sinful Dream," which is based on white vermouth and white mushrooms.
