Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt could not finalize their divorce for a long 8 years, but by the end of 2024, their marriage was officially dissolved. Despite this, the former spouses remained legal guardians of their minor children, Vivienne and Knox, which meant they were bound by certain obligations and official documents.
In a month, their youngest children will turn 18, meaning that from July 12, there will be no more documentary obligations and agreements regarding secondary custody between Pitt and Jolie, which granted Brad the right to communicate with the minor children while Angelina had primary custody.
Sources from Page Six assured that Pitt now has “very limited” relationships with the children, many of whom no longer carry his surname, including Maddox, who filed a petition this week to change his last name away from his father's.
“Angelina distanced the children from Brad, especially those who she knew were particularly close to him,” said an insider.
Another source familiar with the situation insisted that Jolie never aimed to isolate her children from their father, noting that no actions by Brad could change her opinion of him. It is worth recalling that in 2016, a scandalous incident occurred between the former spouses aboard a private plane, where, according to Jolie, Brad had been violent towards her and the children.
