The exhibition 'Slot'otas Manifest' by artist Erika Kumerova has opened at the Cultural Center of Jurmala, reported the LETA agency citing the cultural center.

According to the organizers, the exhibition encourages reflection, analysis, and a change in the understanding of art. The exhibition features works by the artist created with oil and acrylic, almost all of which were made in 2025 and 2026.

The creators of the exhibition explain that the world of painting is vast, diverse, and limitless — today artists use window scrapers, sponges, rollers, spatulas, and even gas torches to create their works.

Erika Kumerova found an ordinary wooden brush in one of the shops in Riga and thought that the wide, thin stroke of the brush would help express the dynamics, movement, and layering that she needed on the canvas.

"Thus began the experiments that lasted nine months: how to tame this brush, how to touch it to the canvas, how hard and fast or how smoothly, slowly, and gently. This can also be called gestural art, where the author paints with their whole body, not just their hands," the Cultural Center explains.

Erika Kumerova has participated in 64 group exhibitions in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Germany, Georgia, the USA, Poland, and the Czech Republic. This is the artist's 35th solo exhibition.

The exhibition will run until the end of June.
