The streaming giant Netflix has taken on a multi-episode adaptation of the bestseller by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus, 'The Nanny Diaries'. Scarlett Johansson ('Avengers: Endgame') will serve as the executive producer of the project — she played the lead role in the 2007 film of the same name. Now the actress returns to this story, but on the other side of the camera, teaming up with producer Greg Berlanti ('The Main Character').
The script and direction of the project will be handled by Amy Chozick, who worked on the series 'Girls on the Bus', and Jenny Bicks, who contributed to the cult classic 'Sex and the City'. The plot centers around Annie — a struggling writer with no money to her name, who is hired as a nanny for a socialite from the Upper East Side. Annie plans to write a sensational exposé on the lives of the wealthy while working undercover. But suddenly, the girl becomes attached to her charges and realizes what her capricious boss is truly capable of.
For Netflix, this is a logical step: adaptations of books are hugely successful with the audience. According to the service's statistics, last year adaptations accounted for about 20% of all views. Among the most popular English-language projects of the company are 'Bridgerton' and 'The Queen's Gambit'.
