A Cat from the USA Was Accidentally Sent by Mail. The Owner Traveled a Thousand Kilometers to Get Her Back

An American family has reunited with their cat after it was accidentally sent by courier mail from Utah to California, BBC reports.

When a cat named Galyana went missing, her owners from Utah began searching for her, but without success.

However, a week later, Amazon warehouse employees in California found the missing animal in one of the boxes of returned goods.

It turned out that Galyana had climbed into a large box of work boots that her owners had purchased on Amazon but decided to return. As a result, the package was sent back along with the cat.

“Galyana just loves boxes; it’s one of her traits,” said owner Kerry Clark to local television station KSL TV.

The cat was discovered by one of the Amazon warehouse employees in California, who took her to the veterinarian. The veterinarian scanned the chip and found Clark's name and phone number.

The American noted that this was “the most amazing and crazy news in the world” for her. “At first, I didn’t believe the veterinarian; I thought it was some kind of joke,” Clark admitted.

After that, she had to buy a plane ticket and fly to California, covering more than a thousand kilometers.

“The reunion was just wonderful. Galyana immediately stopped shaking when I picked her up; she relaxed instantly,” Clark says.

Fortunately for the cat and her owners, the box with the boots had holes that allowed the animal to breathe. Additionally, the package was not transported in overly hot or cold conditions, and the cat was able to survive without food and water.

BBC reached out to Amazon for a comment on the incident.

Now, Kerry Clark urges all pet owners to make sure to chip their pets and “triple-check” boxes before returning them to the seller.
