Do Asian mosquitoes really pose a threat to residents of Europe?

There is an opinion that tropical mosquitoes have invaded Europe, spreading dangerous diseases...

This refers to the Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus). Although there is no mass spread of these insects, a research group from Goethe University in Frankfurt warns that due to climate change, tropical diseases transmitted by mosquitoes may be reported more frequently in Europe in the future. These insects have already been spotted in Germany and the United Kingdom.

For example, in France, cases of dengue fever (transmitted by mosquitoes among others) have been registered in people who have not left the country. In September, a large-scale disinfection was carried out in Paris to combat mosquitoes.

The Asian tiger mosquito is a black insect with silvery-white markings, measuring between 2 and 10 mm in length. It makes almost no sound and usually bites during the daytime.
