One reason is related to the feeling of safety. For a cat, a stable and familiar environment is important, and the owner's scent becomes part of the usual surroundings. Even when it comes to sweat, the familiar aroma can calm the animal and create a sense of security.
Pets actively explore the space around them, determining which scents belong to their territory. When a cat lies on its owner's clothes or rubs against them, it not only senses the familiar scent but also leaves its own markings, mixing them with the known smell.
Another factor is the reaction to changes in the person's state. Cats can notice an increase in the smell of sweat and often begin to pay more attention to their owner. This behavior is sometimes seen as a sign of support from the animal.
