A Pig in Japan Has Organs That Can Be Transplanted to Humans

Japanese scientists have made a significant step in the scientific field. They have created a genetically modified pig whose organs can be transplanted to humans without the risk of rejection. This was reported by the press service of PorMedTec, a company operating under the auspices of Meiji University.

The technology was originally developed in the United States by a local biotechnology company. Japanese researchers were able to clone a piglet using cells imported from the initiating country. This is the first case in Japan where a genetically modified pig has been born, whose organs can be transplanted to humans.

However, one should not expect that transplantation will happen in the near future. At this point, scientists are celebrating the successful birth of the pig. Ahead of them lies extensive work related to ensuring the safety of the procedure. Ethical aspects also need to be discussed. Plans are in place to conduct an experiment to transplant the pig's organs into a monkey.

This will be an important intermediate step towards the main goal.
