It is indeed true. In the mountains of Eastern Turkey, researchers have identified two new species of moles. Externally, they resemble their well-known relatives, but they are distinguished by their ability to survive in extreme conditions. In summer, these moles can withstand heat up to 50 degrees Celsius.
As a result of this discovery, the total number of known species of European moles has increased from 16 to 18.
