Each of us has our favorite New Year songs, and dogs have their own too! British specialists conducted a study, resulting in a list of ten musical compositions that are most popular among our four-legged friends.
Specialists from the British charity Guide Dogs UK Charity For The Blind And Partially Sighted conducted a survey involving 1,000 dog owners. Based on the responses received, researchers were able to identify ten Christmas and New Year songs that dogs like the most, reports the Daily Mail.
Among the surveyed owners, 22% noted that their pets prefer cheerful compositions, 18% said that dogs prefer quiet music, 14% indicated that their four-legged friends respond better to instrumental melodies, and the same number of owners pointed out a preference for slow songs.
The study found that 90% of dogs respond positively to music, and each animal has its unique musical taste, which explains the differences in their reactions to various compositions. For instance, 23% of dogs wagged their tails when they liked a song, while 15% showed excitement. If the music did not attract the pet's attention, they reacted calmly (12%) or even fell asleep (11%).
Based on the survey results, a list of the ten favorite New Year songs for dogs was compiled:
Last Christmas, Wham! (10%)
Jingle Bells (9%)
All I Want for Christmas is You, Mariah Carey (6%)
Driving Home for Christmas, Chris Rea (6%)
I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday, Wizzard (6%)
Merry Christmas Everybody, Slade (6%)
Silent Night (6%)
Fairytale of New York, The Pogues (5%)
It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Michael Bublé (6%)
A Wonderful Christmas Time, Paul McCartney (5%)
