Since the beginning of 2022, there has been an increase in cases of adverse reactions associated with the use of veterinary drugs in cattle in the European Union. This is reported by the Spanish veterinary portal Animal’s Health, citing data from the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS).
In particular, this concerns serious anaphylactic reactions, often resulting in fatalities, recorded in cattle in Belgium, Italy, France, and Spain after the administration of vaccines and other veterinary drugs given by injection.
Since 2021, France has seen an increase in cases of hypersensitivity and anaphylactic reactions in cattle following the injection of antimicrobial agents.
According to the publication, the reported adverse events may be related to the fact that the animals were weakened after vaccination against bluetongue. However, this connection has not yet been confirmed. Currently, the competent authorities of the European Union are conducting special monitoring of these cases to determine the causes of what is happening and to take necessary measures.
