Not to all.
For a long time, it was believed that the mongoose could overcome any snake solely due to its agility. However, it is now known that this creature has protection against the venom of some snakes — at least, cobras.
The venom of the cobra contains a toxin that blocks the transmission of impulses between nerve cells. Mongooses have a section of amino acids on the receptor protein that binds to the venom, thereby neutralizing its effect.
To combat other snakes, the mongoose employs a special strategy. It skillfully dodges the opponent's attacks, waiting for the right moment to deliver a decisive strike.
