Wildlife service staff were able to sedate the 270-kilogram deer and finally free it from the tire around its neck. This was the fourth attempt in a week. This was reported by the Colorado state wildlife service.
One of the wildlife service workers, Scott Murdock, reported that there was a small wound around the deer's neck, and the fur in that area was missing. Due to the steel in the tire, they were unable to cut it, so they had to file down the animal's antlers.
When the staff removed the tire, they realized that the deer had been struggling immensely with carrying it. In addition to the significant weight of the tire, dirt and pine needles had accumulated in it over the two years. Murdock also noted that despite all the hardships, the deer appeared healthy and full of energy.
The deer with the tire around its neck was first spotted in Colorado back in July 2021, according to the BBC. For two years, wildlife service workers were unable to get close to the animal, and in winter it completely disappeared from sight. However, during the mating season, they were finally able to track it down and free the poor creature.
