Where is Pig Paradise Located?

In the center of the Atlantic Ocean lies a tiny uninhabited island. Its length from north to south is 1.8 kilometers, its maximum width reaches 1.6 kilometers, and its total area is only 0.9 km².

The island is somewhat shaped like a boot, similar to Italy. On maps, this piece of land is grandly named Big Major Cay, but the locals have long dubbed it Pig Island.

According to legend, once pirates traveling from Europe to America left pigs on this island to take them back as 'live canned goods', but their ship never returned.

Another version suggests that the pigs survived a shipwreck, and the strongest among them managed to reach the island.

Pessimists believe that the pigs were intentionally brought to the island to attract tourists. There is evidence for this – the island has indeed become a tourist attraction thanks to its unusual inhabitants – wild domestic pigs that are not afraid of people and love to sunbathe and swim on the beach located on the western side of the island.

The pigs are fed from passing yachts, and if a boat comes close enough to the shore, the curious animals may jump inside, asking for food.

As of 2022, about twenty of the happiest pigs in the world lived on the island.
