The police of the city of Tilburg in the Netherlands warned local residents that a "highly venomous" two-meter green mamba is at large. Experts strongly recommend not to attempt to catch the snake on your own, CBS News reports.
According to the publication, at the beginning of the week, the owner of the venomous reptile contacted the police, stating that he could not find his snake. The police published a photograph of the coiled green mamba and urged citizens to be cautious until the snake is captured.
“The bite of a green mamba is extremely venomous. In case of a bite, immediate medical attention is required,” specialists reported. According to them, there have been cases of rapid fatal outcomes within 30 minutes after a bite.
Experts note that in general, the snake “does not show aggression” and is unlikely to be outside during the cold winter period. “These reptiles prefer dark and warm places. If the snake manages to find such a shelter, it will behave very calmly,” specialists explained.
The police are making every effort to quickly locate the venomous reptile, and it is being searched for with the help of service dogs.
