The diet of wolves is much more diverse than it may seem at first glance: they hunt not only deer, moose, and hares, but also beavers and fish; moreover, it is known that wolves do not disdain fruits.
This is confirmed by research conducted by staff at Voyageurs National Park and the University of Minnesota, who observed a group of wolves equipped with GPS collars.
Adult wolves regurgitate semi-digested food for their pups, and once researchers noticed that one of the wolves regurgitated blueberries.
Although wolf pups had previously been observed eating blueberries, it was thought that they did this only occasionally and out of curiosity. However, if adult wolves are feeding their pups blueberries, it certainly indicates that this berry holds an important place in their diet.
