Ophthalmologist Elena Kohenderfer provided dietary recommendations for maintaining eye health and visual acuity.
According to the specialist, beta-carotene plays an important role — a substance that is converted into vitamin A and helps strengthen the cornea, as well as improve night vision. The highest amounts of beta-carotene are found in carrots, pumpkins, and other yellow and orange vegetables. To enhance the absorption of fat-soluble vitamin A, the doctor recommends cooking these vegetables in sour cream sauce.
In addition, Kohenderfer recommends including blueberries in the diet, as they are rich in vitamins B1, C, and lutein. This berry helps reduce eye fatigue after working on a computer, normalizes intraocular pressure, and accelerates the transmission of nerve impulses.
The doctor also advised regularly eating fatty fish (salmon, sardines, herring, mackerel) — the omega-3 fatty acids contained in them improve the functioning of the circulatory system, protect cells, and reduce the risk of dry eye syndrome.
