Nutritionist Elena Khokhlova spoke about the key criteria for choosing quality chicken.
According to her, fresh chicken should have a barely noticeable aroma: any sharp or foreign smell signals possible problems with the product. It is also important to choose poultry without a yellowish tint.
"When selecting chicken, it is important to pay attention to its appearance: the meat should be pink, without spots or unpleasant odors," noted the nutritionist.
It is preferable to choose poultry raised without the use of hormonal agents — such a product will be tastier and safer.
"It is best to choose meat from birds raised on natural feed, without the addition of hormones and antibiotics. If you are buying fillet, it should be firm to the touch and have no slimy surface," the specialist concluded.
