For many people, healthy and quality sleep is an unattainable dream. An unusual way to combat insomnia was revealed by general practitioner Tamsin Lewis in an interview with the publication Metro.
In her opinion, wearing socks in bed helps to fall asleep faster. When the feet are warm, blood flows to them more actively. This, in turn, contributes to a decrease in overall body temperature, which pushes the body towards sleep.
"People fall asleep faster when there is a greater temperature difference between the body and the hands/feet. Socks help create this difference," the specialist assured.
To support her words, the doctor referenced a 2018 study. Its results showed that people who slept in socks had an increased sleep duration of 32 minutes, and their sleep quality improved by 7.6% compared to those who rested without this garment.
