Scientists from Singapore conducted a study that showed that coffee and tea contribute to maintaining vigor and physical activity in old age. The results of the work were published in the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association.
The scientific study lasted two decades and involved about 12,000 participants aged 45 to 74.
During the experiment, researchers found that, in addition to caffeine, coffee and tea contain polyphenols that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. These substances protect the body from diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and obesity, as well as help maintain activity in old age.
Moreover, the consumption of coffee, green tea, and black tea reduces the likelihood of developing cognitive decline in old age.
