The Nutritionist Explained When to Consume Potatoes During the Day

Nutritionist Anastasia Kondaulova shared recommendations on when it is best to include starchy root vegetables in the diet.

 

According to the specialist, the optimal time to consume potatoes is at lunch, as they are rich in starch.

“Starchy vegetables make any meal more filling and substantial, and they include not only potatoes but also beets, pumpkin, carrots, and even zucchini. These root vegetables are great for a snack in the middle of the day,” explains the nutritionist.

Anastasia Kondaulova emphasizes that potatoes contain many beneficial microelements necessary for the normal functioning of the body. However, it is important to control the quantity and timing of their consumption, as an excess of starch can lead to increased blood sugar levels and metabolic disorders.

Additionally, chef Sergey Mikheev recommends not consuming starchy products in their “pure” form, but rather combining them with proteins and vegetables. For example, this could be a salad of fresh vegetables or pieces of baked red fish.
