Therapist Oksana Drapkina highlighted a forgotten product that helps not only in the fight against excess weight but also contributes to lowering blood sugar levels.
The expert emphasizes that currently the prices of vegetables and greens have significantly increased, and lentils can serve as a worthy substitute. This product is rich in beneficial substances that improve the functioning of the intestines, the cardiovascular system, and also strengthen joints and bones.
“Regardless of the type of lentils — red, green, or brown — its main advantage lies in its high protein content: 100 grams contains almost a third of the daily norm,” notes the doctor.
According to the doctor, this protein is easily absorbed by the body. In terms of its amino acid composition, it is almost on par with meat, making it indispensable for athletes, vegetarians, and those who follow fasting.
Moreover, lentils contain many complex carbohydrates that slow down the absorption of glucose, thereby helping to control blood sugar levels.
The therapist claims that a healthy adult should consume 200 grams of lentils 2-3 times a week. Such a portion will fully provide the body with many necessary elements.
