Researchers have found that melilotus has even greater benefits than previously thought. This plant helps alleviate cold symptoms and calms the nervous system.
In addition to its use as a flavoring agent in the food industry, melilotus is of significant interest to the pharmaceutical sector.
As noted by herbalist Y. Abdusheva, the plant contains vitamins and biologically active substances from which phytopreparations are made. A decoction of melilotus is used as an antiseptic in the treatment of furunculosis and purulent wounds, as well as an expectorant for colds.
Melilotus is rich in coumarin—a substance that serves as the basis for medications that calm the central nervous system, lower blood pressure, reduce swelling, inflammation, and spasms, as well as improve blood circulation in the brain, heart muscle, and abdominal organs.
