82% of Herbal Medicine Books on Amazon Likely Generated by AI

82% of books in the 'Herbal Medicine' subcategory on Amazon — the world's largest online store, which sells both electronic and printed publications — published in 2025 are likely partially or fully written by generative AI.

This conclusion was reached by the team at Originality.ai after a selective analysis of 558 printed publications published from January 1 to September 30. Researchers scanned the available abstracts, sample texts, and author biographies with their detector and found signs of AI in 96% of the books in at least one segment; 77% showed signs in all three segments.

A case in point is the bestseller The Natural Healing Handbook, which held the top position in its subcategory throughout the summer. The author Luna Filby and the cited 'experts' show no signs of existence outside the mentioned book. According to the researchers, the biography, description, and excerpts from this 85-page book were flagged by the detector as AI-generated with a 100% probability.

The analysis revealed recurring markers of 'conveyor belt' AI publications: identical keywords in titles, similar author pseudonyms, logos instead of photos, template advertising phrases, and generous use of emojis — especially 🌿.

Researchers note that the advice contained in such books is not verified by doctors, often disregards contraindications, and may pose risks to readers, especially pregnant women, children, and people with chronic illnesses. Experts emphasize the need to implement filters that detect AI content to protect the audience and support real authors.
