It has been revealed that fruits protect the lungs from dirty air.

Fruit consumption reduces the harmful effects of polluted air on the lungs. This was stated by pulmonologist Jimmy Johannes in an interview with Women's Health.

The doctor emphasized that the effectiveness of this simple method was confirmed by a recent study, which showed that fruit lovers experienced significantly less decline in lung function after exposure to harmful substances in the air compared to those who do not eat fruits. He suggested that a likely explanation for this is that all fruits contain many substances with anti-inflammatory properties. In his opinion, they protect the lungs from oxidative stress caused by dirty air.

Johannes added that a noticeable effect is achieved only if fruits are consumed every day and in large quantities. He recommended eating at least 400 grams of various fruits per day.
