Delicious Salted Lemons: Recipe for a Popular Dish

Making such a snack is very simple, and the taste turns out to be amazing.

 

Salted lemons can be used as a snack or added to your favorite dishes.

Ingredients (for a 3-liter jar):

lemons – 2 kg;
salt – 300 g;
chili pepper – 2 pcs;
bay leaves – 4 pcs;
garlic – 4 cloves;
vegetable oil – 3 tbsp;
slightly warm water.

Step-by-step preparation

1. First, thoroughly wash the lemons in warm water using a brush or sponge. It is better to choose small fruits so that they are convenient to place in the jar and take out.

2. Cut each lemon in a cross shape, not all the way through, so that it retains its shape.

3. Stuff the cuts of the lemons with salt, pressing well, and place them in a suitably sized jar.

4. Add the chili pepper, bay leaves, and garlic cloves to the jar. Sprinkle the remaining salt and pour in the vegetable oil.

5. Add water so that it completely covers the fruits. On top of the jar's neck, place a plastic bag or cling film, and tightly close the lid.

6. Shake the jar well and gently roll it on the table to evenly distribute the salt. Leave to infuse for 2 months at room temperature.

Experienced cooks recommend using wooden spoons or sticks to retrieve the lemons, as metal utensils can spoil the fruits.

Salted lemons go well with any meat or fish and can also be served as a snack with strong drinks.
