Juicy Meatballs Recipe: The Secret is in the Sauce

A simple minced meat dish that is associated with Soviet times and continues to remain popular.

 

The key role in this dish is played by a special sauce that any housewife can prepare, even without special culinary skills.

Ingredients for the meatballs:

ground beef – 800 g;
rice – 200 g;
onion – 200 g;
carrot – 150 g;
egg – 1 pc;
salt – 1 tsp;
black pepper – to taste.

Ingredients for the sauce:

tomato paste – 2 tbsp;
sour cream – 3 tbsp;
salt – 1 tsp;
water – 0.5 l;
vegetable oil – 3 tbsp.

First, the meat is passed through a meat grinder, and the rice is soaked in boiling water. The carrot is grated on a medium grater, and the onion is diced. All components are mixed, salt and pepper are added to taste, and then 1 egg is introduced.

Preparing the sauce

In a deep container, sour cream, tomato paste, water, and sunflower oil are mixed. It is thoroughly stirred to avoid lumps, and salt is added.

From the minced meat, balls are formed and placed on a baking sheet. They are poured with the prepared sauce.

The oven is preheated to 180°C and the meatballs are cooked for 35-40 minutes.

The meatballs are served in tomato-sour cream sauce with mashed potatoes or any other side dish.
