What health risks await lovers of unwashed fruits

By trying unwashed fruits from the stall, you expose yourself to a high risk of contracting hepatitis.

“Look at the food”

The summer season brings an abundance of delicious fruits, berries, and vegetables that can be enjoyed straight from the garden. However, this period can also lead to numerous health problems.

This is especially true for those who like to sample fruits before buying them. What if you get deceived?

Hepatologist Marina Ladytskina strongly urges such individuals to give up this dangerous habit.

- Consuming unwashed fruits or berries at the market can lead to serious health consequences. As a result of such behavior, a person may develop diarrhea, and E. coli may start to “thrive” in the body. In some cases, more serious diseases, such as hepatitis A, can be contracted from the surface of favorite fruits, - warns the specialist.

Therefore, all lovers of juicy fruits are advised by the hepatologist to “eat them with their eyes,” meaning to thoroughly inspect them before purchase.

Safety rules

To avoid infection, the doctor advises always to wash fruits thoroughly with soap before consumption, especially if you are in hot countries (Turkey, Mexico, Egypt, etc.).

In such cases, excessive precautions will not be unnecessary, as well as the pursuit of cleanliness, the doctor emphasizes.

She also noted that the hepatitis A virus is very resistant to soap and even boiling. Therefore, when in unfamiliar places and buying fruits from unknown sellers, it is better not only to wash the fruits but also to peel them. This will help prevent the dangerous virus from entering your body and ruining your vacation.

By the way, a handshake can also become a source of health problems. So don’t forget to follow the advice of your favorite mom and doctor – “wash your hands with soap as often as possible.” Take care of your health!
