A drink with a rich aroma and deep flavor promotes mental clarity, improves concentration, and alertness. However, not everyone likes coffee due to its acidity, which can irritate sensitive stomachs. For some people, caffeine causes nervousness. What alternatives exist when you need to boost your energy levels?
1. Mate
This herbal tea has an earthy and bitter taste. It contains antioxidant polyphenols and as much caffeine as coffee. Mate helps relieve fatigue and improve concentration without causing nervousness.

In some cases, mate leaves are dried with smoke, which can lead to the formation of carcinogenic substances that increase cancer risk. Air-dried leaves pose no danger.
2. Yaupon

This herbal drink tastes similar to green tea. It contains chlorogenic acid and antioxidants that help reduce inflammation and increase energy levels. One cup of yaupon contains 60 mg of caffeine. It also contains theobromine, which increases blood flow and alertness. The effect of yaupon manifests more slowly but lasts longer than caffeine. However, excessive consumption can lead to increased heart rate and sleep disturbances.
3. Chicory

Chicory is the root of a plant that is dried, roasted, and ground. It contains the prebiotic fiber inulin, which caramelizes during processing, giving the drink a dark brown color and a nutty flavor, sweeter and less bitter than traditional coffee. Chicory does not provide the same energy boost as it contains no caffeine.

4. Matcha
